Safety Notes

Be sure to examine the filter to identify any broken or damaged parts. Failure to follow the instructions and warnings in this guide may result in product damage and / or serious injury. Algreen will not be held liable for any damage resulting from failure to observe this guide's instructions.

Preliminary Safety Tips

The filter is designed for use outside of the pond, and should not be placed inside the pond.

Installation Instructions

Prior to installing the PressureFlo filter, you will need to dig a channel six to eight inches deep connecting the upper and lower pond basin (or waterfall). This channel will allow you to bury and concel the tubing. You will also need to dig a hole to partially bury the PressureFlo filter, to keep it in an upright and level position.

While laying the tubing in the channel, connect your pump to the filter. Attach the tubing from the pump to the "IN" connector on the filter. Attach tubing to the "OUT" connector of the filter, and connect the other end to your upper tier (or biofalls filter, if applicable). You should use stainless steel clamps to create a water-tight seal around all of your tubing connectors.

Submerge the pump in water. Plug in the pump to check both the pump's and the PressureFlo's performance.
Attach the UV light's assembly cord to the transformer and plug it into an outlet (a GFI outlet is preferred). The UV indicator light will display purple / blue when the light is on and functioning.

UV Light Troubleshooting

If the UV indicator light does not turn on:

Maintenance and Cleaning

Your filter's bio-balls supply a habitat for micoro-organisms (beneifical bacteria) that help in filtering your pond water. These micro-organisms cannot endure dry conditions or stagnant water, so the filter should be constantly supplied with running water. Long idle periods will lead to a reduction in the filtering performance. In the event that you have a long idle period, your filter may require a longer period of time before you will begin to see any results.

Your bio-filter is equipped with a color-coded pressure indicator located on the container lid. When your filter is operating effectively, the pressure indicator will display GREEN. IF the flow rate within your filter drops, performance will decline and the pressure indicator will display RED. This means that it is time to clean your filtration media (see next section on Manual Cleaning).

Manual Cleaning

The filter can be opened and the individual filter components can be cleaned and washed manually. Unlatch the 4 clamps, and pull up on the container lid (this may require considerate force, due to the pressure seal on the lid). Do not use any cleaning agents, but instead, wash the sponges with tap water. The bio-balls should only be cleaned if they are highly contaminated. You should only use pond water to clean the bio-balls, in order to preserve the micro-organism growths inside these balls and to keep the filter biologically active.

After cleaning, when re-assembling the device, ensure that the O-ring rubber seal is correctly positioned. If the water-tight seal is out of place or misaligned, there could be significantl leakage during filter operation.

Changing The Bulb

Ensure that the unit is unplugged before working on the UV clarifier. In order to access the UV clarifier, the screws should be removed from the top of the unit, and the circular turntable should be brought to the "unlocked" position. Acquire a firm grip on the spherical lid (you may need to use your fingernails), and pull upwards. The inside of the filter should now be exposed.

You should see that the wire is being held into place by a housing. Unscrew and remove the housing that holds the wire into place. You should now be able to unscrew the UV light in the middle by turning the clear circular knob counter-clockwise.

Assembly Instructions:

2.1 Attach the UV lamp to the fixed screw.
2.2 Place the “O” ring on the inlet/outlet an fasten the screws on tightly.
2.3 Connect the plastic tube to the water inlet/outlet tightly. The tube with an inner diameter of 1 to 1.25 inches is suitable to be connected. Ensure the tube is connected tightly.
2.4 Dig a small hole beside your pond where your UV clarifier will stay.
2.5 Find a small plastic container that can hold the UV clarifier. Place the Clarifier in this container and bury the clarifier.
NOTE: DO NOT PLACE THE UV CLARIFIER IN THE POND. DIRECT CONTACT WITH WATER CAN PERMANENTLY BREAK YOUR UV CLARIFER.

Cleaning Instructions:

3.1 Switch off the power before opening up the unit. Disconnect the plastic tubing from the unit. Undo all screws on the water inlet/outlet.
3.2 Undo the plastic screw between the ballast and the unit, then open the cage, take out the lamp sector and quartz tube step by step, and clean the quartz tube and inner surface with a soft sponge or cloth.

You should see that the wire is being held into place by a housing. Unscrew and remove the housing that holds the wire into place. You should now be able to unscrew the UV light in the middle by turning the clear circular knob counter-clockwise.
